Torre Abbey

Torre Abbey is one of Torbay's most historic buildings (1196) and once the wealthiest Abbey of its kind in England. This former Abbey and later the home to the Cary family after the breakup of monasteries by Henry VIII, includes a fine art collection with paintings, sculptures and replica brasses. The last providing children with the opportunity to try for themselves - the art of brass rubbing. The Grade I listed buildings are set within colourful gardens just a short stroll from the Torquay seafront.
